A secret message in your group — only the people you pick can read it

Lichkan Bot drops a sealed envelope into a group chat. You write the message to the bot in private, and the group sees only the tagged names, the line “Habar keldi” (“a message has arrived”) and a 🔓 Xabarni o’qish button, which reads “read the message”. Anyone else who taps that button gets nothing.

What it is

What is Lichkan Bot?

Lichkan Bot sends a secret message into a Telegram group. Only the people you choose can open it; for everyone else in the group it is simply not there. In the chat this works like a sealed envelope: the envelope sits in front of the whole group, but only the person whose name is written on it can read what is inside.

The way it works is simple. You mention the bot in the group, and the bot then asks you for the message text in its private chat with you. Once you have written it, the bot posts only the tagged names and the words “Habar keldi” into the group, with a 🔓 Xabarni o’qish button underneath. If the person who taps that button is on your list, the text opens for them in a pop-up window. If they are not, they get “⛔️ Sizga ruxsat yo’q.” instead, which is the bot telling them they do not have permission.

The part that matters most: the text of the message is never written into the group history at all. Nobody can scroll back up the chat, hunt for a screenshot or use search to find it later. The text exists on screen only when the button is tapped, only for a person who has permission, and only inside the pop-up window.

The second thing that matters: the sender stays anonymous. The group message carries no information about who sent it — no name, no username, no link. That makes the bot handy for games among friends, for remarks you cannot make openly in a group, and for private reminders meant for a few people rather than the whole group.

Why it exists

What it solves

Something you cannot say to the whole group

Some things concern one or two members of a group and nobody else, and opening a separate chat for them is awkward. With Lichkan the message stays in that same group, and only the person it is meant for can open it.

The text does not sit in the chat history

Write an ordinary message and it stays in the group history for good, where members who joined later can scroll up and read it too. Lichkan never writes the text of the message into the group at all.

Nobody sees who sent it

The group message shows nothing about the sender. That matters most in the cases this bot gets used for: games, jokes and surprises among friends.

It also reaches people without a username

Permission is checked by user_id as well as by @username. So a person who never set a username on Telegram can still be picked from the list that opens when you press the @ button, and the message reaches them.

What it can do

What it can do

The message opens in a pop-up alert

The text is never written into the group. When someone taps the 🔓 Xabarni o’qish button, it appears as a pop-up window for that one person only — on everyone else’s screen nothing changes.

One message to several people

Send it as a reply and the message goes to a single person. Send it without a reply and the bot asks “Odamlarni tag qiling” (“tag the people”), so you can mark several recipients at once.

The sender stays anonymous

The message that reaches the group holds the tagged names and the line “Habar keldi”, nothing more. Who sent it is not shown anywhere.

Permission is checked two ways

A person can land on the list by user_id or by @username. Everyone who is not on that list gets the same answer when they tap the button: “⛔️ Sizga ruxsat yo’q.”, the bot’s Uzbek for “you do not have permission”.

The button keeps working later

Sent messages are not deleted from the bot’s storage, so the same button still opens the text the next day — as long as the person tapping it has permission.

The session belongs to you alone

Only the person who started the session can answer the “Odamlarni tag qiling” request. One user has one active session at a time, never two.

First step

How to start

  1. Open @lichkan_bot and press /start

This step is required. Without it the bot cannot write to you in private and cannot ask you for the message text.

  2. Add the bot to your group

Add it as an ordinary member of the group where you want the secret messages to go. Nothing else is needed at this point.

  3. Turn Privacy Mode off

Admin rights are not needed, but Privacy Mode has to be off so the bot can see the mention in the group.

  4. Type @lichkan_bot in the group

To reach one person, write it as a reply to their message. To reach several, just mention the bot and it will ask “Odamlarni tag qiling” — “tag the people”.

  5. Write the message text in private

The bot writes “✍️ Habaringizni yozing.”, meaning “write your message”. Send text and nothing else, and keep it under 200 characters.

  6. Watch for the button in the group

The bot confirms with “✅ Xabaringiz yuborildi.” (“your message has been sent”), and the group gets the tagged names, the line “Habar keldi” and the 🔓 Xabarni o’qish button.

Two chats

How a conversation goes

The bot replies and button labels below are the real strings, copied from the bot and not rewritten for this page. Lichkan speaks Uzbek only, so that is exactly what you will see in Telegram; the English steps under each mockup say what every line means. The other thing worth watching is the route: the flow starts in the group, continues in the private chat and comes back to the group. The names and the hidden text are made up for the example.

Method 1 — one person, through a reply

In the group you reply to that person’s message and type @lichkan_bot. The bot works out the recipient from the reply itself and then asks you for the text in private — the sample message here reads “I’ll bring the present, don’t tell anyone”. All the group ever gets is the address line and the button.

  1. Aziz replies to Dilnoza’s message in the group and types @lichkan_bot.
  2. The bot writes to Aziz in the PRIVATE chat and asks for the text. “✍️ Habaringizni yozing.” means “write your message”, and the line under it warns that only the first 200 characters will be visible.
  3. Aziz types the text in private, and the bot confirms with “✅ Xabaringiz yuborildi.” — “your message has been sent”.
  4. The group receives only “@dilnoza Habar keldi”, which reads “a message has arrived for @dilnoza”, and the 🔓 Xabarni o’qish button. There is nothing about the sender.

Method 2 — several people at once

In the group you type @lichkan_bot on its own, with no reply. The bot answers that message and asks for the recipients. You reply to the bot’s message and tag them, and from there the flow moves back into the private chat, where the sample message reads “we are meeting at 19:00 today, don’t tell Kamola”.

  1. Shahzod types @lichkan_bot in the group and replies to nobody.
  2. The bot replies to that message with “Odamlarni tag qiling”, which means “tag the people”.
  3. Shahzod replies to the bot’s message and tags them. Someone with no username can still be picked from the list that opens when you press the @ button.
  4. The bot asks for the text in the PRIVATE chat, and Shahzod writes it there.
  5. The group gets the list of tagged names, the line “Habar keldi” and one button.

What happens when the button is tapped

It opens

The button is tapped — a person who has permission

When a person from the list taps 🔓 Xabarni o’qish, the full text of the message opens for them in a pop-up window — here, the sentence about the present that the sender typed a moment earlier. That window appears on their screen alone and leaves no trace in the group.

The button sits there tappable for everybody in the group, but a person who is not on the list never sees the text. All they get is a short refusal: “⛔️ Sizga ruxsat yo’q.” means “you do not have permission”. They learn that a message exists; what it says stays closed.

Error cases

How the bot warns you

These replies come out when a step goes wrong. The wording in the right column is the bot’s own, in Uzbek, exactly as it is sent; the left column says in English what has just happened.

Error case: the bot’s private chat was never opened

Telegram does not let a bot write to you first. If you have never pressed /start in @lichkan_bot, the bot cannot ask you for the text in private and the flow stops here. The group reply “Avval botni oching, keyin qayta urinib ko’ring.” tells you to open the bot first and try again, and the [Botni ochish] button under it takes you straight there.

Limits

Things to know before you start

Only the first 200 characters show

This is a limit of Telegram’s pop-up window. Send something longer and the bot warns you, but the reader still sees only the beginning of it. Keep the message short and it arrives whole.

You have to press /start first

This step is not optional. If you have never written to the bot, it cannot write to you in private and cannot ask you for the message text — in that case the group gets “Avval botni oching, keyin qayta urinib ko’ring.”, the bot asking you to open it first and try again.

Privacy Mode has to be off

Admin rights are not needed in the group, but Privacy Mode has to be turned off so the bot can see your mention. With it on, the bot receives nothing from the group at all.

One request at a time

A user has one active session at a time. And only the person who started that session can answer the “Odamlarni tag qiling” request in the group.

You cannot send to yourself or to the bot

The bot and the sender are dropped from the list of targets automatically. Try to send one to yourself and you get “O’zingizga xabar yubora olmaysiz.” — “you cannot send a message to yourself”.

Messages are not deleted

Sent messages stay in the bot’s storage, which means the button still works after time has passed. That is convenient, but it is also worth keeping in mind.

Storage

Where the message is kept

The text of the message is never written into the group chat. All that stands there is the tagged names, the line “Habar keldi” and the button. So scrolling the chat or running a search through it will not turn the text up.

The text itself is kept by the bot and shown to a person with permission when the button is tapped. Sent messages are not deleted, which is why the button keeps working later on. This bot is not built for state secrets or passwords — it keeps a message out of plain sight in a group chat, and that is all it is for.

Commands

ActionWhereWhat it does
/start, /helpprivate chat onlyShows the help text
@lichkan_bot (mention)group onlyStarts a secret message
@lichkan_bot + replygroup onlySends it to the one person you replied to

There is no “/lichka” command in the bot — in a group the only thing that starts the flow is a mention. Lichkan does not register its commands in Telegram’s command menu either, so you will not find a Lichkan list in the panel above the input field. The one thing to remember in a group is to type @lichkan_bot.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can everyone in the group read the message?

No. The 🔓 Xabarni o’qish button is visible to everyone, but the text opens only for the people you picked. Someone who is not on the list taps it and gets “⛔️ Sizga ruxsat yo’q.”, the bot’s way of saying they do not have permission, and the contents stay hidden from them.

Can people see who sent the message?

No, the sender stays anonymous. The message that lands in the group holds the tagged names and the words “Habar keldi”, and nothing at all is given about who sent it.

Why is the bot not writing to me in private?

Because you have never written to it. Telegram does not let a bot open the conversation, so you have to open @lichkan_bot and press /start yourself first. Until you do, the bot answers in the group with “Avval botni oching, keyin qayta urinib ko’ring.” (open the bot and try again), plus a [Botni ochish] button that takes you to it.

How long can the message be?

In practice the reader sees only the first 200 characters, which is a limit of Telegram’s pop-up window. Write more than that and the bot warns you with “⚠️ Xabaringiz 200 belgidan uzun — o’quvchiga faqat dastlabki 200 ta belgisi ko’rinadi.”, telling you the rest will not be shown.

Does the text stay in the group history?

No. The text is never written into the group chat, so scrolling back or searching will not find it later. It is kept by the bot instead, and sent messages are not deleted there, which is why the button still works after a while.

Do I need admin rights?

No, admin rights are not required. What the bot does need is Privacy Mode turned off, so it can see your mention in the group — without that it receives nothing you write there.

Can I send to someone who has no username?

Yes. Permission is checked by user_id as well as by @username, so a person who never set a username can still be picked from the list that opens when you press the @ button.

Is there a /lichka command?

No, that command does not exist. In a group a secret message starts one way only: by mentioning @lichkan_bot. The bot does not add its commands to Telegram’s menu either, so no Lichkan list appears in the panel above the input field. In the private chat, /start and /help give you the help text.

Can I send a message to myself?

No. The bot and the sender are both taken out of the list of targets, so if you try it you get “O’zingizga xabar yubora olmaysiz.” — the bot telling you that you cannot send a message to yourself.

What happens if I tag nobody?

The bot answers “Hech kim tanlanmadi. Iltimos @ tugmasini bosib ro’yxatdan foydalanuvchilarni tanlang.”, which asks you to press the @ button and pick the users from the list. Send a photo or another file instead of text and you get “Iltimos faqat matn yuboring.” — text only, please.

Can I prepare several messages at the same time?

No, one user has one active session at a time. Write to the bot when no request is open and you get “Sizda faol so’rov yo’q.”, meaning you have no active request. The “Odamlarni tag qiling” request can also be answered only by the person who started that session.

What language does the bot speak?

Uzbek, and only Uzbek. There is no language switch in the bot, so every reply you see comes in Uzbek — which is why the bot texts on this page are shown in Uzbek too, with an English explanation next to each one.

In short

Try it in your group

Open the bot and press /start first, then add it to your group and type @lichkan_bot there. Your first secret message goes out a few seconds later.
